For several of our Production departments, we are looking for professional leaders with, at one hand proper knowledge and experience and at the other hand a strong character that can sustain our corporate values.
The Production departments of the Curacao Drydock Company Inc. are responsible for carrying out the repair of the vessels according the project planning that is presented in the project team. In a close interaction between the project managers and the superiors of the concerned departments in the production, we strive to complete the projects efficiently and effectively.
Curacao Dry-dock Company Inc. has vacancies for :
Head Nautical
This leader manages the Nautical department in an effective and efficient way and reviews the docking plans for technical adequacy, checking the hull contours and structural members of a vessel to determine and ensure proper placement of lifting blocks. The Head Nautical is completely responsible for a vessel during the entire repair period.
Specific requirements for the job:
- Bachelor in Science or equivalent level

A minimum of 10 years experience as a Dockmaster in a shipyard;
A minimum of 3 years experience in a managerial position with proven management skills;
Head Mechanical
This leader manages the mechanical department in an effective and efficient way and is responsible for the repairs of all mechanical parts and spare parts of vessels. The Head Mechanical is also responsible for the disconnection and transport of the several parts to and from the vessels. The repairs have to be carried out within the determined time frame and according to the high standards of quality.
Specific requirements for the job:
- Bachelor or Academic education in Mechanical Engineering or Naval Engineering;
A minimum of 10 years experience in the specific field of ‘Maritime Mechanical Engineering’;
A minimum of 5 years experience in management function preferable in ship yards.
Supervisor Steel
This supervisor gives guidance when cutting and/or burning of iron works from naval engineering parts on board of vessels, and in the workshop.
Specific requirements for the job:
- Secundary Technical education;
- Relevant experience in iron works
in `Naval Engineering’;
Knowledge of material and several types of tools;
More than 3 years experience in similar position.
Supervisor Hull Treatment
The Supervisor Hull Treatment is in charge of the maintenance of the equipment within the Hull Treatment and of the preparation of the projects. He gives guidance to the maintenance specialists as well as to the people involved with the preparation of the projects.
Specific requirements for the job:
- Secundary Technical Education;
- Knowledge of blasting, washing, painting principles;
- Knowledge of blasting, washing, painting materials and equipment;
- More than 3 years experience in similar position.
Head Maintenance
Your tasks and responsibilities include among other things the following:
- Management of the employees and activities of Maintenance Department
- Development of maintenance policies, including short and long term investment plans and determineshow to execute these policies effectively
- Makes up an annual program and budget in order to fulfill the objectives of the depertment
- Takes care of maintenance and repair of all mechanical and electrical equipment on behalf of hull treatment, all buildings and infrastructure
Specific requirements for the job:
- Bachelor education in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering and/or Contruction Engineering
- Knowledge and experience with maintenance of equipment, machines, vehicles, cranes, buildings and infrastucture
- Knowledge of ISO standards and procedures
- Guiding, organizational and analytical skills
- More than 5 years experience in similar position
VACANCY IN THE COMMERCIAL DEPARTMENT
Estimator
The Estimator makes an offer and possible quotations of additional and/or changed offers of the Ship owners and/or operators.
Specific requirements for this position:
- Comprehension skills on a Bachelor’s level or a Bachelor education in Naval Engineering;
Broad knowledge of making up invoices and calculation methods;
Knowledge and experience in commercial activities in shipyards.
Project Manager
The Project Manager coordinates vessel repair projects, from quotation till evaluation and is responsible for preparing calculations, quotations, invoices, and other relevant documents.
Requirements for this position:
- Bachelor degree in Naval engineering or Mechanical Engineering;
- Relevant knowledge and experience in vessel repairs;
- Knowledge of naval/maritime rules and regulations;
- Knowledge and experience in project management;
- 3 years relevant experience in similar position.
- General requirements for these leading positions:
- Managerial skills;

All necessary skills to be an execellent team player;
Good communication skills in English, Dutch and Papiamento, both orally as in writing, Spanish is an advantage;
